Alexandra Modell--Board Certified Acupuncturist & Herbalist, Diplomate in Oriental Medicine, Diplomate in Canonical Chinese Medicine and Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher--is a health care provider dedicated to treating the whole person. With a combined skill set in both integrative medicine and mind-body healing modalities, Alexandra utilizes a diverse approach to treat patients with a variety of conditions and assist students on a path to wellness. She is licensed and certified in the state of Wisconsin, and previously practiced in Chicago.
A graduate of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM), Alexandra discovered her calling in East Asian Medicine while living in Taipei, Taiwan (in 2009-2010) where she was teaching for Pure Yoga, one of Asia's leading yoga studios. After benefiting from the integrative medical system in Taiwan, which included access to both Eastern and Western treatment strategies, she returned to school to immerse herself in Eastern medicine.
Her rigorous schooling at PCOM included coursework in acupuncture, herbal medicine, and biomedicine, in addition to over 900 hours of clinical training. Alexandra is in General and Family Practice, and treats a range of disorders including pain, stress & anxiety, allergies, headaches, digestive and women’s health. Alexandra is especially passionate about practicing classical Chinese herbal medicine to manage multiple conditions.
In addition to practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine, Alexandra is an adjunct instructor in the Kinesiology Department of UW-Milwaukee, and teaches courses about intervention strategies in complementary and integrative medicine and the benefits of mind-body practices. She is committed to continuing her own education, and will begin a program with Duke Integrative Medicine in early 2021.
Furthermore, Alexandra is a long time yoga practitioner and teacher. Her teaching focuses on therapeutics, applied anatomy, and the mindfulness traditions, and she offers classes, workshops and training programs integrating preventative medicine, the healing arts, movement and meditation.
